Samsung has introduced new parental control features to Galaxy phones with One UI 7.0, allowing parents to manage what content their children can access through Samsung Internet and Galaxy Store. These enhancements provide more control over web browsing and app downloads, making the Galaxy ecosystem safer for younger users.

One UI 7.0 introduces new parental controls for Galaxy users

One UI 7.0, which shipped out of the box on Galaxy S25 phones and is available in beta for the Galaxy S24 series in some markets, offers more advanced parental controls. A new Content Restrictions page within Settings > Digital Wellbeing and parental controls lets parents filter the content their children see on Samsung Internet and Galaxy Store.

Parents can enable a filter that blocks “sexually explicit and violent sites” on Samsung Internet. Given the vastness of the internet, this filter may not catch all explicit websites. However, it should still block the more obvious sites that kids are likely to click on. Additionally, parents can set the maximum rating allowed for apps and games downloaded from the Galaxy Store.

With this filter, users can only download certain apps allowed in their age category. The available options are All Ages, 12+, 16+, and 18+, based on the child’s Samsung account settings. As Mishaal Rahman notes, devices configured for a child’s account may require parental approval to change these settings. Parents may also be required to approve app download and purchase requests from their children’s phones.

While these parental controls are a welcome addition, they aren’t available globally. Galaxy S25 units sold in India, for example, lack the Content Restrictions page within Digital Wellbeing and parental controls. This is one of many features Samsung limits to select markets. Hopefully, the company will expand these useful tools worldwide. One UI 7.0 is expected to roll out to more devices later this month.
