Samsung kicked off the launch of the Galaxy S25 series at Galaxy Unpacked last month. Now that the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra are officially hitting stores, there’s at least one phone missing from the lineup (aside from a possible Fan Edition, if and when it releases), and that’s the Galaxy S25 Edge. Yes, the phone that was previously rumored to be called the Galaxy S25 Slim. A new tip from reporter Max Jambor reveals that the Galaxy S25 Edge could launch sooner than expected.
Galaxy S25 Edge will launch in second quarter of 2025
Max Jambor says the Galaxy S25 Edge will launch in Q2. The second quarter means we could see the Galaxy S25 Edge hitting shelves between April and June, which also aligns with some previous reports. Another report backing up the release timeline comes from the GSMA IMEI database spotted in November. Samsung phones typically appear about six months prior to their launch, implying a release date in May.
Unlike previous renders from OnLeaks, which showed a triple-camera setup, Samsung has opted for a dual-camera setup while teasing the Galaxy S25 Edge. The reasoning behind this is that Samsung wanted the upcoming phone to be even slimmer. Furthermore, it’s said to be just 5.84mm thick and weigh less than 160 grams (5.64 oz). The tipped weight makes it even lighter than the regular Galaxy S25 (which weighs 162 grams, 5.71 oz).
It’s been a while since Samsung released a lightweight flagship. The last lightweight flagship from Samsung was the Galaxy S10 (at just 157 grams), but it was 7.88mm thick. Since then, smartphones have only become beefier. But maybe the Galaxy S25 Edge could change that. Moreover, as usual, it will also house a Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, the same as the rest of the lineup. It might disappoint a bit in the battery department, as it’s rumored to pack a 3,900mAh battery. And that’s less than any of the Galaxy S25 siblings.
