Samsung is reportedly planning to equip the Galaxy S26 series with silicon-carbon batteries. Just yesterday, a Korean publication backed the claim, giving it a “confirmed” status. If this comes to fruition, we can expect the Galaxy S26 Ultra to feature a battery of up to 6,000mAh or more. However, another tipster is disputing these claims.
Tipster says Galaxy S26 Ultra won’t equip more than 5,500mAh battery
According to PandaFlashPro, the Galaxy S26 Ultra won’t feature a 6,000mAh or 7,000mAh battery. They suggest the maximum we can expect is a 5,500mAh battery, citing five sources familiar with the matter.
The tipster further claims they will delete their X account if Samsung equips the Galaxy S26 Ultra with a 6,000mAh or 7,000mAh battery. As for Samsung’s plans to expand the battery, a report from Fnnews quoted a Samsung official stating, “In the case of using silicon anode materials, the capacity increases, but there is a problem with the lifespan and needs to be improved.” They added that they are “researching various ways to improve it.” Now, it’s a clash between two reliable sources, both with proven track records.
If Samsung indeed plans to use silicon-carbon batteries in the Galaxy S26 Ultra, it would offer a more sustainable solution, capable of holding more energy without increasing the size. However, since this technology is new, manufacturing silicon-carbon batteries is currently more expensive than traditional Li-ion batteries.
What happens remains to be seen, as we’re still over a year away from the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s launch. However, one takeaway from both reports is that Samsung might at least increase the battery’s mAh. Yeah, whether it’s 5,500mAh, 6,000mAh, or possibly even a 7,000mAh battery. We can’t blame PandaFlashPro here, as Samsung typically creates several prototypes. But only one of them makes it to the final product. This is similar to what happened when the reliable OnLeaks tipped that the Galaxy S25 Edge could feature a triple-camera setup, but the Galaxy Unpacked event revealed a model with dual cameras
