We’re officially in February, and One UI 7.0 should be arriving soon for the Galaxy S24 series in its stable form. But not so fast! While Samsung recently detailed the next February patch, for now, it’s rolling out the January 2025 security update for the Galaxy S24 series in Europe.
Galaxy S24 series gets January 2025 security update in Europe
Samsung has already rolled out the January 2025 security update for Galaxy S24 users in the US. Now, the update is being released in Europe for the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra, based on One UI 6.1 / Android 14. It’s now available for non-beta users. The update includes the following build numbers for each model:
- Galaxy S24: S921BXXU4AYA5
- Galaxy S24+: S926BXXU4AYA5
- Galaxy S24 Ultra: S928BXXU4AYA5
If you have a Galaxy S24 series device in Europe, update soon. To check for the update, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. The update file is around 450–500MB in size.
Samsung’s January 2025 security update includes 51 patches. Of these, 22 address Galaxy-specific issues, while 29 fix Android OS vulnerabilities that also affect devices from other brands. Among the fixes are critical vulnerabilities in Galaxy components that could allow attackers to corrupt memory, access data across user profiles, or execute unauthorized code.
The Android OS patches, provided by Google and its partners, include five critical fixes and several high-severity ones. Some of these vulnerabilities impact a wide range of Galaxy phones, while others are more isolated. Additionally, some Android flaws also affect devices from other manufacturers.
Some reports suggested vulnerabilities in Snapdragon chipsets running Android 12 to 14, which are expected to be addressed in the February patch. However, that update has not yet been released. For certain phones, including the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung may bundle the February security patch with the One UI 7.0 update.
