Google Messages used to support only one phone number with RCS, but that’s been changing for a while now. After making its debut in January last year, the feature has gradually expanded to more users. In fact, some US users got dual-SIM RCS support on Google Messages just a few months ago. Now, it looks like the functionality is finally rolling out to a wider audience.
Google Messages dual-SIM RCS support is widely rolling out
A Reddit user @xyashirox posted that they’ve got the dual-SIM RCS support on Google Messages. In the same thread, several others chimed in, saying it’s working across different phones, including the Pixel 9 Pro, OnePlus Open, and even the S24 Plus. Many users mentioned that the feature kicked in after updating to the latest version of Google Messages from the Play Store.
It looks like dual-SIM RCS support is also making its way to the US, with reports of it working on AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. More specifically, one user confirmed they’re not on the beta version but are using Google Messages version vmessages.android_20241120_00_RC07. For what it’s worth, Apple may have been late to the RCS game but has supported dual-SIM RCS since day one. Things are definitely moving in the right direction, and it looks like we’ll see wider support in Google Messages soon.
